The role and application of cast voltage transformers
2023-03-29
The casting voltage transformer can convert high voltage into a lower standard secondary voltage according to a certain proportion, ensuring that the equipment voltage meets the rated voltage requirements. It also effectively isolates the high voltage from electrical workers to ensure worker safety. This device is manufactured based on the principle of electromagnetic induction, but its electromagnetic structure has its own characteristics. Let's learn about the function and application of the casting voltage transformer!
Casting voltage transformers have a wide range of applications, especially in power plants and substations where power transmission and supply are required, playing an important role. In electrotechnical testing laboratories, they are also often used as instruments for voltage, power, and energy detection. This device is similar to a transformer, its main function is to convert voltage on the line. However, transformers transform voltage only to achieve power transmission; their function is simple, and their capacity is large, usually measured in kilovolt-amperes or megavolt-amperes.
When converting voltage, casting voltage transformers often play a more complex role. It first needs to provide power for the detection surface and relay maintenance, so it is used to detect voltage, power, and electricity in the line. When used, it can be used to maintain equipment, motors, transformers, etc., in the line, reducing failures, so the capacity is relatively small, generally only a few volt-amperes or tens of volt-amperes; even if the capacity is large, it usually does not exceed one thousand volt-amperes.
Why is voltage conversion necessary on the line? This is because power generation, transmission, and consumption are different, resulting in different voltages on the circuit. In particular, in some cases, the difference between the two is very large: high voltage can reach tens of thousands of volts or hundreds of thousands of volts, while low voltage is only 220V and 380V. If you want to directly detect the low and high voltage of the line, you need to make corresponding low and high voltage meters or relays according to the size of the line voltage. Direct voltage detection on the circuit is difficult.
If a transformer is connected to the line for voltage conversion, the high or low voltage on the line can be converted into several low voltages according to a certain proportion. Therefore, only relays or equipment that meet the voltage standard are needed, such as a voltage of 100V. After using the transformer, the voltage can be detected and monitored. Therefore, the transformer can convert high voltage into low voltage, making the low voltage suitable for the use of various equipment and relay maintenance, and effectively isolating the secondary system from the high voltage. It not only standardizes and simplifies the production of equipment and relays but also ensures the safety of equipment and personnel.
When used with an ammeter, its main purpose is to detect large currents with a small ammeter. Therefore, the primary side needs to be connected to the circuit being measured, and the secondary side needs to be connected to the ammeter. When connecting, pay attention to the detection parameters of the ammeter and set up a grounding protection device. The secondary circuit of the casting voltage transformer is a high-impedance circuit, and the size of the secondary current should be determined by the impedance of the circuit. If the secondary load impedance decreases, the secondary current will increase, and the primary current will automatically increase to ensure uniform electromagnetism between the primary and secondary sides.
