What is the application scope of micro-mutual inductors?

2021-09-23

In our industry, Miniature Current Transformer are widely used. Therefore, what issues should be considered when selecting miniature current transformers? Next, let's briefly introduce the application scope of miniature current transformers.

Miniature current transformers are currently successful and practical microelectromechanical devices, mainly including micropressure sensors and micro-accelerometers, which utilize the mechanical deformation of micro-diaphragms to generate electrical signal output; in addition, there are miniature temperature sensors, magnetic field sensors, gas sensors, etc. The area of these miniature sensors is mostly less than 1 mm2.

Automotive sensors are a general term for various sensors used in automotive display and electronic control systems. It involves many physical quantity sensors and chemical quantity sensors. These sensors allow the driver to understand the status of various parts of the vehicle; or used to control the status of all components of the vehicle.

Automotive temperature sensors are mainly used to detect engine temperature, intake air temperature, coolant temperature, fuel temperature, and catalytic temperature. There are three main types of temperature sensors: thermistor type, wound resistor type, and thermocouple resistor type. These three types of sensors have their own characteristics, and their applications are slightly different. Thermistor temperature sensors have high sensitivity and good response characteristics, but poor linearity and poor temperature adaptability.

Among them, the general-purpose temperature measurement range is -50℃~30℃, the accuracy is 1.5%, and the response time is 10ms; the high-temperature type is 600℃~1000℃, the accuracy is 5%, and the response time is 10ms; the wire-wound resistor temperature sensor has high accuracy, but poor response characteristics; the thermocouple resistor temperature sensor has high accuracy and a wide temperature measurement range, but it needs to be used with an amplifier and cold-end processing. Other practical products include ferrite temperature sensors (temperature measurement range: -40℃~120℃, accuracy: 2.0%), metal or semiconductor thin-film air temperature sensors, etc.

Miniature Current Transformer The principle is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. Miniature current transformers consist of a closed iron core and windings. Its primary winding has very few turns and is connected in series in the circuit where the current needs to be measured, so it often passes all the current in the circuit. The secondary winding has many turns and is connected in series in the measuring instrument and protection circuit. When the miniature current transformer is working, its secondary circuit is always closed, so the series coil impedance of the measuring instrument and protection circuit is very small, and the working state of the miniature current transformer is close to a short circuit. The miniature current transformer converts the large current on the primary side into a small current on the secondary side for measurement, and the secondary side must not be open-circuited.

In power generation, substation, transmission, distribution, and power consumption lines, the current changes greatly, ranging from a few amperes to tens of thousands of amperes. In order to facilitate measurement, protection, and control, it is necessary to convert it into a relatively uniform current. In addition, the voltage on the line is usually very high.
